Playing without two singles Dylan Polster, the West Bend East Suns lost a non-conference match to the Germantown Warhawks on a cold Thursday evening. Highlights for East were
the matches at three and four singles. At three singles, junior Aidan Schmidt picked up East’s lone victory in impressive fashion. After winning the first set with relative ease, Schmidt had to battle to take the second set. The final game went at least six deuces, and was a credit to both players. At four singles, Preston Renier also played a tremendous match. After dropping the first set and being down in the second, Renier played a great set and won a clutch tiebreak before dropping the match super-tiebreaker. All four of Renier’s matches this year have gone to super-tiebreakers.
Germantown swept the doubles, though each East tandem played their opponents close during portions of the match. The Suns go back into action against Port Washington on Tuesday.
