The East Lady Suns opened the 2018-2019 basketball season against Milwaukee Lutheran in the Acuity Fieldhouse Wednesday night. The Lady Suns were looking to build on one of their most successful seasons. The Lady Suns started a little sluggish and trailed by as many as 6 points early in the 1st half. The Suns kept fighting and battled back to trail at the half 30-27. Milwaukee Lutheran came out in the 2nd half looking to use their speed and athleticism to increase their margin. The Lady Suns wanted no part of that as they rallied to take an early 32-30 lead minutes into the second half. The Lady Suns were able to stretch that lead to 38-32 with 12 minutes to go in the half. Milwaukee Lutheran battled back to tie to the game a little over halfway through the half.
The Suns were able to get the Knights into foul trouble down the stretch to seal the victory for the Suns and moving them to 1-0 on the season. The Suns return to action Saturday night at the Acuity Fieldhouse when they host Brown Deer. JV start if 4:30PM and Varsity start is 6:00PM
The Suns were led in scoring by Auburn Larson who had 24 points. Abby Trinastic added 12. The Lady Suns controlled the rebound edge 39-34 as Lizzy Bagley pulled down 12 and Megan Lemke pulled down 9. The knights shot 50% from the Free thrown stripe while the Suns shot 44%.
