On senior night honoring Dylan Polster, the East Suns defeated Slinger 7-0 in a match that was much closer than the final score. After the first twenty minutes, the scores revealed a match which could have gone either way.
Polster played smart tennis to come back from being down in the first set and fought off a scrappy Jamie Melius. Trey Larson played some of his most offensive tennis of the year to defeat Slinger’s three singles, and Preston Renier continued his hot play with a convincing victory. And at one singles, Alex Schaetz settled into a groove midway through the first set before cruising to a victory.
After a very smooth first set, the one doubles tandem of Conklin and Ketter pushed through to come back in the second set, displaying some very quick reflexes. Aidan Schmidt and Nathan Meyer finished points at the net to win their match in straight sets. The longest doubles points, and the longest match, went to Owen Schmidt and Steven Marris at three doubles. After a very close first set tiebreak victory, they quickly dropped the second set before taking the third even more decisively. The match was a complete team victory.
The Suns have now advanced to 10-4, and will play three matches on Saturday in West Bend starting at 10 AM.
